Our Story
It all started around 2011. Kyle was at the local community center in Lake Tahoe with his friends during a girls volleyball tournament when he first saw Shay. He thought she was cute and asked one of her teammates what her name was. After adding her on Facebook, the two began talking and flirting from time to time.
Kyle lived at the lake and Shay lived in the valley, and since neither of them could drive, their connection grew entirely through text messages. They bonded over movies and sports and became surprisingly close for two people who had never met in person. There was always a mutual interest, but life had a way of getting in the way, and eventually their conversations faded as they both moved on with their lives.
Kyle went on to attend school in Santa Barbara before returning to the Reno area to start his career, while Shay went to the University of Hartford to study and play volleyball. Years passed, and both dated other people. In 2019, Kyle tried to slide into Shay’s DMs, but she was seeing someone at the time and, being the loyal person she is, left him on read.
Fast forward to 2020. Shay returned to Nevada to apply for grad school, and fate decided to step in. Kyle had posted some videos of himself feeding birds out of his hands at Chickadee Ridge, a subtle move to get some female attention. Clearly, it worked because this time Shay slid into his DMs to make small talk. Through their Instagram messages, Kyle found out that Shay was single again, and so was he. After some light flirting and a few pictures of his steak-cooking skills, he convinced her to go on a date.
At the time, neither of them was looking for anything serious. Kyle even jokes that he was talking to a few girls then, but when he finally met Shay in person after more than eleven years, it was love at first sight. After their first date, he respectfully told the other girls that he couldn’t see them anymore because he knew he had met the girl of his dreams.
Shay took a little convincing, but after several dates during COVID and a couple of quail egg shooters, Kyle finally won her over, and they made things official.
Almost 6 years later, the rest is history. ❤️
Eleven Years to Forever
Kyle and Shay first connected as teens in 2011, building a sweet long-distance bond entirely through messages before life pulled them in different directions. Nearly a decade later, fate and a few bird-feeding Instagram posts brought them back together, leading to a first date that instantly felt different. What began as casual reconnecting quickly became love, and almost six years later, their story continues stronger than ever. ❤️
